Crime and Punishment

is a socio-psychological and social philosophical novel within the literature of crimewritten by the Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky. The novel was first published in the literary magazine The Russian Messenger in 1866 in the form of a literary series with serial episodes on 12 months[ar 2] a year later, a separate and improved edition of the literary magazine's literature editions was published that included shortcuts and stylistic changes that the author included in the book's edition. The novel is Dostoevsky's second longest novel after returning from exile in Siberia and his best novel during his literary maturity and is classified as one of the

greatest literary works in history.
